On February 4, 2021, the Trial Chamber of the International Criminal Court (ICC) convicted Dominic Ongwen, a former commander of the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) of 61 counts of war crimes and crimes against humanity including torture, enslavement, attempted murder, murder, outrages upon personal dignity, destruction of property, forced marriage, forced pregnancy, persecution and pillaging committed during the attacks on IDP camps in Abok, Lukodi, Odek and Pajule.

The Refugee Law Project with funding from the Democratic Governance Facility (DGF) and in partnership with York University’s Conjugal Slavery in War Partnership will host a Zoom discussion whose focus is to bring together voices of the victims from the two-decade war between the LRA and the Ugandan army who will be sharing a variety of perspectives on the recent verdict.
